About

I’m Gaz, a Bristol based artist and former secondary school science teacher. I founded The Museum of Science, the Arts & Interdisciplinary Collaboration (The MoSAIC) in 2022 to address a problem in the education system that frustrates me:

Science is not seen as a creative subject in schools, even worse my experience as a teacher showed me that our current rigid curriculum fails to show students the beautiful, and essential, connections that exist between disciplines.

All of the greatest scientists have had to be creative to innovate. STEM industries are desperate for creative employees willing to explore outside the box. And students crave context to connect with their internal motivation to learn. Many students found it eye opening to have a science teacher that also worked as an artist, and often it made them rethink their own career paths. You can view my latest artworks here.

Through the growing team at The MoSAIC, we are providing both educators and learners with unique resources, training and in-person workshops that help to bridge the gap between the arts and the sciences. We work with schools, learning hubs and community groups to elucidate the hidden links that elevate our artistry with scientific knowledge and help us to problem solve by thinking differently. We also work with researchers and industry to showcase their latest work to a younger audience through STEAM learning (science, technology, engineering, the arts and maths). We passionately believe that the days have gone where ‘art/science’ integration means an unplanned poster lesson.

The MoSAIC takes STEAM learning to the next level, on a path to make arts integration a priority for education in the UK. Join us in inspiring the next generation of polymaths by spreading the love of cross-curricular education.

What we currently offer:

Our Mission

For Learners

Effectively integrate the arts into S.T.E.M learning to promote creativity and innovation

  • We help you to see how interconnected human knowledge is by exploring the intersections of the arts and sciences through real world examples.

  • We inspire you to draw connections across curricula, dismantling the traditional art-science divide.

  • We show you how creative STEM is, raising aspirations and inspiring learners.

For Educators

Enabling social mobility by making our services accessible to learners who have experienced disadvantage.

  • We offer free resources and subsidised in-person workshops to help educators to embed cross-curricular learning.

  • We empower you to captivate your students by intertwining cutting-edge STEM research with a spark of creativity.

  • We train you to enter a world where curiosity meets innovation, creating transformative educational experiences that foster lifelong learners.

For Everyone

Science is for everyone! We provide rich learning experiences where everyone feels valued, and is invited to contribute and collaborate in our dynamic workshops.

  • Our main driving force is to help decrease the disadvantage gap  using STEAM learning and arts integration.

  • As such, all of our online resources are currently free to use. Our workshops are heavily subsidised for schools with high Free School Meals and Looked After Children cohorts to ensure that our services are equitable.

  • Rooted in equality, diversity, and inclusion, we shape our every move with these values at our core. Embark with us on a mission to make STEAM learning accessible, engaging, and empowering for everyone.

We have proudly use DALL-E (v2.0, v2.exp and v3) and Exactly.ai text-to-image generators to produce imagery for our website, social media as well as in our workshops to teach young people about generative AI. The prompts for the images on this particular page are the text that appears next to them.

We give a huge thank you to OpenAI and Exactly.ai for allowing us to be part of their ongoing research and continuing to use their incredible technologies.

At The MoSAIC, we are passionate about teaching young people how artificial intelligence can help them to learn through our tailored workshops. We also want people to be mindful of the potential risks of AI use.
